Job description

This application encompasses: irrigation of crops, planting and harvesting of row crops including alfalfa, corn, beans, wheat and barley.

This is a skill level II position and requires at least three (3) months agricultural equipment operator and general farm labor experience. Workers will work with minimal guidance/supervision once given work tasks for the day.

The lifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds.

All other duties assigned under this order will be those duties of Ag Equipment Operator and Farm Worker and Laborer Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse, under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment Statistics Standard Occupational Classification Code 45-2091 and 45-2092.

General Farm Work will include the following duties
1. Maintain, drive, attach, and operate farm implements, tractors, equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops
2. Make mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery
3. May mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable)
4. Remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds
5. Remove rocks from fields, edges of fields, concrete ditches, etc.
6. Paint, maintain, repair, farm structures
7. Perform general clean-up of farm areas
8. Operate motor bike, all-terrain vehicle (ATV’s), John Deere Gators, in the course of performing duties
9. Operate or maintain equipment used in agricultural production and field preparation such as tractors, irrigation equipment, 4-wheelers, pick-ups, non-CDL farm trucks, and other commonly used equipment in agriculture.
10. Workers may also clear debris and garbage from fields and clean/maintain farm buildings, structures, equipment, and work areas
11. Load and mix chemicals in addition to operating tractors pulling sprayers and/or operate
12. Backpack spray as required and/or operate tractor with spray tank connected to 3-point to spray weeds and/or ground
13. Burn weeds on all properties
14. Pull and/or hoe weeds on all properties
15. Baiting and trapping rodents as required
16. Operate farm trucks, non-CDL farm exempt semi-trucks, 10-wheelers trucks, and/or any vehicle to haul corn, alfalfa (hay bales, haylage, green chop) from fields to farm

Special Requirements

Additional Wage Information:
The employer agrees that it will offer, advertise in its recruitment, and pay at least the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), the prevailing hourly wage rate, the prevailing piece rate, the agreed-upon collective bargaining rate, or the Federal or State minimum wage rate, in effect at the time work is performed, whichever is highest.
The employer may pay a higher hourly rate based on tenured performance, the Employer may, at its discretion, pay higher hourly rates for workers performing specialized duties. If approved, these higher rates will be based on individual factors including demonstrated skill/knowledge after hire, demonstrated experience after hire, certifications, and performance, and will be offered to all qualified H-2A and corresponding U.S. workers on the same terms. Such payments do not change the primary job classification or required experience level.
