Job description

Crops: Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Pumpkins, Corn Silage, Haylage

Workers will prepare field/beds for planting by hand; plant seed by hand; transplant by hand and by machine; lay plastic by hand’ weed by hand and with a hoe; remove rocks, preform tillage, Workers will hand harvest all of the crops above. Workers will irrigate, harvest seed, vegetable and flowers by hand, assist in market delivery (unpacking and handoff), Area clean up, repack all listed crops, husk seed by hand; wash by hand; do general crop maintenance (pinching & tying) by hand. Detasseling, thinning and rogueing of plants; Hand sort shelled seed, participate in end of the day clean up around farm, maintain general farm neatness and cleanliness.

Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations.

Field Fertilizer Application: Workers will perform various duties associated with applying fertilizers to fields, including the loading and unloading of the fertilizer material. Workers will also assist with the pumping of the liquid fertilizer Workers will be given a brief demonstration of what the exact duties are. This could include hooking up pumps and blowers to farm equipment and mixing the fertilizer. Workers will be preparing the worksite for application which would include laying hose on the ground with tractor, setting pumps in fertilizer pits to prepare to pump the fertilizer onto the fields. During application workers, will monitor pumps throughout the pumping process. When application is complete the workers will pick up equipment, clean-up work site and prepare to move equipment to the next location. Throughout the job, workers are responsible for maintaining equipment.

Workers will perform various duties associated with applying fertilizers to the fields used in the production of agriculture crops.

Hauling manure and agricultural products and crops is seasonal work and tied to crop production and nutrient management. Workers will drive semi-truck hauling crops and manure in tanker trailers, assisting with manure pumping, loading, unloading and transporting manure and agricultural materials. Workers will also power wash and maintain equipment, shop and farm building. Incidental activities include lawn/landscape maintenance and installation, brush mowing, wood/land clearing, gravel spreading/driveway maintenance, and fence line maintenance. Worker will be required to follow all safety and biosecurity protocols and environmental procedures, perform general farm labor (lifting, carrying, walking fields), follow DOT and farm safety regulations, maintain records related to agricultural hauling and application, inspect vehicles and equipment before and after use.

Farm, and Field Sanitation All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors and other farm sanitation duties.

Workers must have clean driving and insurable record. Workers must pass an employer paid pre-employment drug test. Failing or refusing to take a drug test will prevent applicants from being hired. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
