Job description
Worker will perform a combination of manual and mechanized duties related to row crop and hay production. Duties include, but are not limited to: producing quality hay in the field by preparing fields, cutting, raking, baling, stacking, and moving hay; operating farm machinery and equipment, including 120–300 horsepower tractors and related implements, for planting, cultivating, custom harvesting, raking, baling, and moving hay and row crops; performing mechanized planting and harvesting of crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, rye, and hay; and moving hay bales from field to field and stacking hay in barns, drying facilities, and other storage structures.
Worker will drive farm vehicles and flatbed trucks (no CDL required) to transport hay bales and other agricultural products between fields, barns, grain facilities, and other farm locations; all truck and trailer hauling is conducted in-house and is incidental to the farming operation. Worker will assist with operation of grain dryers and grain storage facilities; handle and repackage silage, mushroom compost, manure, and related feed products for dairy farms; and perform light mechanical and routine maintenance on farm equipment, including changing oil, greasing machinery, and basic servicing as incidental to primary agricultural duties.
Additional duties include general farm maintenance and clean‑up of farm grounds, cleaning work areas and facilities, and clearing new fields and removing rocks, brush, debris, and other obstacles in preparation for new hay and crop operations. Workers must have a valid, insurable driver’s license or be eligible to apply for same at no cost to the worker. Will be asked to drive employer-provided vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business.
Special Requirements
3 months prior experience required operating and maintaining farm equipment, including 100 hp or greater size tractors. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Employer requires all-newly hired employees to take and pass an employer-paid background check. All background checks are conducted uniformly after an initial job offer has been extended and accepted by the new hire. Background checks are conducted due to the responsibility of managing expensive tools/equipment/vehicles, or proximity to family members who lives on the farm.
Workers are not permitted to be under the influence of intoxicants of any kind during working hours. Employer reserves the right to conduct post-hire, employer-paid, upon-suspicion drug testing. Any employee who declines to take or fails a drug test will be immediately terminated.
