Job description
Landscape or maintain grounds of commercial or residential property using hand or power tools or equipment. Perform a variety of duties, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, pruning, fertilizing, digging, raking, mulching, and installation of sprinklers, retaining walls, walkways, patios, or water features using mortarless interlocking concrete masonry blocks. Duties Include: Gather and remove litter, debris, and other refuse from work sites; Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge or brush trimmers, axes, or shears; Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, chainsaws, sod cutters, electric clippers, rototillers, or pruning saws; Water lawns, trees, and plants using portable sprinklers, hoses, or watering cans; Prune, trim, or shape ground-level trees, shrubs, and hedges using shears, pruners, or chain saws; Spray or spread commercial fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders; Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, dethatching, edging, or trimming around flower beds, walks, and walls; Follow landscaping plans to determine locations for sod, grass seed, flowers, or plantings; Plant seeds, bulbs, shrubs, trees, flowers, ground covers, and apply mulch for protection; Edge and mow lawns using power mowers or edgers; rake, compost, and dispose of leaves; Decorate gardens and landscaped areas with stones, mulch, and ornamental plants; Provide upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features; Maintain and repair irrigation systems, including start-up in spring and winterization in fall; Haul, spread, and level topsoil, mulch, or straw to stabilize seeded soil and prevent erosion; Install or repair rock gardens, drainage systems, retaining walls, planters; Inspect and maintain all tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure safe and proper operation; Clean and organize work sites, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored at the end of each workday. Worker will be exposed to weather, outdoors, noise, hot/cold temperatures and will need to wear common protective/safety equipment. The job will require the worker to have attention to detail, thorough in completing work tasks, integrity, and be cooperative, and responsible.
Special Requirements
The worker will need to perform physical activities such as lifting, balancing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and have a driver's license.
