Job description
The workers will perform a range of manual agricultural tasks associated with the cultivation of wheat, corn, soybeans, and sugar beets on approximately 3,500 acres in the Red River Valley region. Job duties include soil preparation, planting, weeding, thinning, irrigating, fertilizing, and general crop maintenance. Workers will also operate irrigation equipment and assist in pest and disease control using non-restricted methods. As the season progresses, duties will include harvesting crops using both manual labor and basic farm tools or machinery suited for field use. Workers will be expected to assist with loading and transporting harvested crops for storage or market. Additional duties include general farm upkeep such as cleaning equipment, maintaining irrigation systems, and performing field and property maintenance tasks. All work will be performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and wind. Workers must follow safety protocols and instructions from supervisors to ensure crop quality and worker safety. Workers should be prepared for periods of intensive labor based on crop cycles and seasonal demands. Tasks will vary depending on weather and field conditions but are essential to the ongoing operation and success of the farm during the peak season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
No experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level I Entry Level Pursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level I Entry Level, indicating that the job requires limited experience and routine supervision consistent with entry-level duties. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
