Job description

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of alfalfa, corn millet and cattle. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to general farmwork. General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize and harvest crops; haul silage from chopper to pit; remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; paint/repair farm structures maintain/repair fencing; perform general cleanup of farm areas; haul silage from chopper to pit; drive, load/unload farm trucks and Ag exempt, non CDL farm trucks; operate motor bike or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties.
Pivots: push on switch that activates circle sprinkler system.
Flood Irrigation: lift gate in side of flooded irrigation ditch/pipe permitting water to flow into bordered section of field; shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment or cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow; close gate in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded; siphon water from flooded reservoir or ditch to channel water into designated areas; shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channel water.
Other Irrigation Duties: remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and lay out/place in predetermined patterns in fields; lubricate, adjust, repair and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains using hand tools; observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation and uniform distribution of water.
Duties related to the Production of Livestock will include the following: clip identifying notches or symbols on livestock; wrestle calves for branding; brand livestock using branding iron. Increased wages and bonus may be possible depending on experience.

Special Requirements

Employer provided items (at no cost to the worker): All tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties assigned as well as transportation between worker(s) on-site housing and the work site. A cell phone or two-way radio will be provided for emergency and ranch communications at no cost to the worker (excluding long distance charges).
The expected work schedule may be required in a split shift due to the nature of the job duties. Hours may vary due to weather, time of year and the requirements of the job. Work may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but only required to work the hours specified. Work may be offered 7 days a week but only required 6 days a week.
