Job description
Examine and assess fine jewelry pieces, diamonds, and gemstones to determine their insurance, market, and retail value. Research current market conditions and comparable values to provide accurate appraisals. Prepare formal written appraisal reports for insurance, estate, resale, or legal documentation. Authenticate hallmarks, metal content, gemstone types, and craftsmanship using standard gemological and metallurgical tools. Collaborate with gemologists and jewelry salespeople to support inventory verification and high-value sales. Maintain accurate records and documentation for all appraised items. Educate clients on the appraisal process and findings in a clear and professional manner. Stay current on industry trends, appraisal standards, treatments, and synthetic materials. Follow Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) guidelines and applicable ethics codes.
Shifts will vary from 5:00am to 10:00pm; up to 6 days/week; 40 hours/week minimum and up to 32 hours/week overtime.
Special Requirements
Gemologist certification. Minimum age: 18.
