Job description
Accommodate hotel, motel, and resort patrons by registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room key or cards, transmitting and receiving messages, keeping records of occupied rooms and guests accounts, making and confirming reservations, and presenting statements to and collecting payments from departing guest; Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests of hotels or motels; Verify customers' credit, and establish how the customer will pay for the accommodation; Contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems; Make and confirm reservations; Issue room keys and escort instructions to bellhops; Keep records of room availability and guests' accounts, manually or using computers; Perform bookkeeping activities, such as balancing accounts and conducting nightly audits; Post charges, such as those for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls, to ledgers, manually or by using computers; Compute bills, collect payments, and make change for guests; Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to managers as necessary; Arrange tours, taxis, or other reservations for customers; Review accounts and charges with guests during the checkout process; Advise housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning; Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, guest registration, and travel directions, or make recommendations regarding shopping, dining, or entertainment; Clean and maintain lobby and common areas, such as restocking supplies and watering plants; Prepare for basic food service, such as setting up continental breakfast or coffee and tea supplies; Date-stamp, sort and rack incoming mail and messages.

Optional employer sponsored health insurance through Blue Care Network is available as payroll deductions of 9.83% of W-2 wages and capped for single coverage at $419.23/month, whichever amount is less. Acceptance of employer sponsored health insurance plan is not a condition for employment. If health insurance is elected, payroll deductions of the premium set forth above will be deducted from the employee's paycheck.
The employer does not provide housing or board during the term of employment however the employer does have a limited number of optional shared housing units available for rent by seasonal workers at a cost to the worker of $79.95 per week and $200 deposit refundable upon inspection at end of season. Use of employer provided housing is not a condition of employment. The housing is within walking distance of the worksites. If a worker rents housing from the employer, the employee will be asked to agree to have the rent deducted from their paycheck.
In addition to the hourly wage, hotel clerks will receive $.25 bonus for every ferry ticket they sell at the desk to hotel customers.
Special Requirements
The days and hours of work will vary depending on scheduling and the level of business and based on room rentals the prior night but will generally be 5-6 days per week with rotating days off. The business is open 7 days per week, Friday-Thursday (including Saturday and Sunday). Examples of daily work schedules include 9:00am - 5:00pm, 7:00am - 3:00pm, 8:00am 4:00pm, 12:00pm - 8:00pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm, 4:00pm 12:00am, 11:00pm - 7:00am, 12:00am 8:00am, approximately 40 hours per week with some occasional overtime during busy times. Weekend, holiday, and night work will be required. Must be available to work all shifts.
