Job description
The Food Service Utility workers are responsible for general food preparation and café line service in various dining operations. Note that our hotel has a separate cooking staff - the Food Service Utility role supports our cooking staff by preparing and serving simple food items that don't require extensive cooking and culinary skills and training. Specific job tasks include:
Food Preparation: Workers prepare salads, fruits, cold breakfast items, sandwiches, pizzas. hamburgers, hot dogs, sides, and other simple food items. Tasks involve washing, chopping slicing, heating, and plating foods. Workers will utilize largely frier and oven to prepare and beat hot food items.
Café Line Service: Workers will set up and maintain buffet lines, serve food to guests, and manage beverage stations.
The venues in which the Food Service Utility staff will work and their duties in each venue include the following:
Cafeteria (William Boyd Center Dining): Prepare and serve simple breakfast items (eg. breakfast meats, fruits, yogurts, oatmeal etc), lunch options (sandwiches, soups, sides), and certain dinner items (eg, side dishes).
Restaurant and To-Go Services (Mountain View Grille and Bites at the Bay): Prepare and serve simple menu items such as salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and desserts.
Snack Bar (General Store): Prepare and serve short-order items, including burgers, hot dogs pizza, and ice cream.
Catered Events: may be involved in helping to prepare salads, cold cuts and other simple food items for buffets and table service for weddings and catered events on property
Special Requirements
Physical ability requirement: Standing for prolonged periods, lifting.
Workdays and shifts will vary between Monday and Sunday based on employer needs; applicants must be available for first shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and/or second shift (1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.).
