Job description
Landscaping and groundskeeping workers will landscape and maintain the grounds of commercial and residential properties using hand and power tools or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: gather and remove litter; use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes; operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws; water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans; prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws; care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls; follow planned landscaping designs to determine whether to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage; trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds; plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs, and apply mulch for protections, using gardening tools; mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers; rake, mulch, and compost leaves; decorate gardens with stones or plants; provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other grounds features; plan or cultivate lawns or gardens; maintain or repair tools or equipment using hand or power tools; haul or spread topsoil or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
Special Requirements
Landscaping and Groundskeeping Workers must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Standard bags of mulch, topsoil, and fertilizer weigh 50 pounds. Workers must be able to lift, cut open, and dump these bags.Employees must be able to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving the whole body, such as lifting, balancing, climbing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials outdoors in weather conditions (such as hot weather). Some OT and Weekends required.
Workers will begin each day at the worksite address. They will then be transported, free of charge, to properties located throughout the area of intended employment, to perform duties. They will then be transported back to the worksite address at the end of each work day.
