Job description
The job specifications involve skilled farm labor for the purpose of preparing for and performing seasonal duties associated with potato harvesting.
Conducts pre-operation inspections and performs basic equipment service/maintenance tasks on farm equipment.
Operate potato harvesting equipment, including tractors, harvesters, wind rowers, crop carts, pilers, forklifts, bobcat, storage and washline equipment.
Use equipment to load potatoes into semi trucks.
Handle potatoes in a manner to ensure they are not damaged.
Removal and clean up of harvest debris.
Perform basic maintenance or repairs on farm facilities.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Perform farm site cleaning, including truck and trailer cleaning.
Report equipment repair needs to a supervisor.
Notify supervisor of potato quality concerns.
Perform general farm work as needed.
All tools will be provided at no cost.
Operate a farm service pickup to bring parts to equipment or drive to equipment being tested in the field.
Full time supervision is provided and all tools are provided at no cost. Workers must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and work in extreme temperatures. Lifting objects up to 50 lbs., bending, twisting, and stooping regularly will be required.
Special Requirements
3 months experience performing maintenance on agriculture equipment and operating this equipment within the past 2 years. 3 months experience working with potatoes is required. A standard drivers license, or ability to obtain one immediately upon hire is required. Hours of work will be offered above 40 hours per week, but is on a voluntary basis. Work schedules may fluctuate relative to weather conditions, field conditions, and crop conditions. Work will be offered on weekends and holidays, but is voluntary. Employees must be able to perform the duties and meet the physical requirements of the job for the duration of the contract.
