Job description

Manually plant, cultivate, & harvest apples. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers and pesticides to crops; transplanting, weeding, thinning, & pruning crops, cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Set up & operate irrigation equipment. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray, harvest & haul crops. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment. All driving or operation of equipment will be done solely on or between farm locations and are incidental to our agricultural operation. Workers must have or be able to obtain a Class D driver’s license. Harvest fruits by hand. Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm manager of crop progress. Identify plants, pests, & weeds to determine the selection & application of pesticides & fertilizers. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, such as pesticides use, yields or costs. Apples injured by bruising during picking shall not exceed 1% (WNY) for fresh and 1% (WNY) for processing. Productivity must be at least 6- 20 bushel bins fresh market and/or 8- 20 bushel bins processing fruit per day Workers are expected to work at least the number of days and hours specified. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all the tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothes. Field temperatures may range from below 0 to 90+ degrees (F), with possible wet morning conditions. Workers must be physically able to lift up to 80 lbs on a consistent basis throughout the day. After hiring, employer may conduct random drug tests at employer’s expense. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in his order

a. Workers must be able to demonstrate that they are physically able to perform the work as described.
b. The employer will provide 0 days of training for worker to reach production standards (if applicable.).
c. Employer may require worker to perform any available general farm work if the guarantee referenced in Section 17a Additional Assurance for Clearance Orders is invoked
d. Employer may terminate worker with timely notification to the NPC and DHS, if the worker: 1) Refuses, without cause, to perform work for which the worker was recruited and hired; 2) Commits serious acts of misconduct; 3) Fails to reach production standards (if applicable); or 4) Abandons Job (Job Abandonment) is absent for five consecutive previously scheduled days without prior notification to employer.
