Job description

Harvesters, Irrigators, Agricultural Equipment Operator: Vegetables to perform the following duties:

Harvesters will harvest the following commodities: broccoli, cauliflower, cilantro, bokchoy, kale, parsley, napa cabbage, leeks, and anise. Harvesters will be responsible for cutting, packing, and stacking crops in the field and on the farm.

Irrigators will install, move, connect, and disconnect irrigation pipes in fields. Run and test water flow.

Agricultural Equipment Operators drivers will drive and control farm harvesting equipment.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, crew leaders will direct and coordinate worker activities , keep crew time and attendance including breaks and meal periods, ensure workers are performing their duties correctly and safely, check weight, quality and quantity of boxes harvested, setup and move harvesting table machines and tractors from one location to another. This is not a supervisory position.

Employees will follow instructions from a supervisors on the employer's agricultural methods and practices, use common equipment and tools to successfully perform the work, and help others as part of a work crew. Work performed by these employees is closely monitored, tracked, and assessed for quality, accuracy, and production results.

Special Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications: 2 months of experience in vegetable harvest required. Workers must stand, sit, crouch, bend, reach, lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds in the course of performing required activities. Cannot be color blind due to the need to distinguish colors of crops for proper ripeness and maturity. Must have use of both hands. Must be able to use hand tools, including cutting knives. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, illegal drugs, alcohol or weapons of any sort in the housing or working fields.
