Farmworker/laborer

Job description

Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: maintain varieties of ornamental trees and shrubs; plant, transplant and harvest nursery stock; prepare soil, fields and tree blocks for planting; tree block maintenance, including mowing, weed whipping, and applying fertilizers; dig and remove planted ornamental trees/plants from field; load and unload trees and supplies; general maintenance and clean up, including removing debris, rocks and other trash on the farm, pulling weeds by hand, and cutting grass; scraping old trees; pruning; staking; perform maintenance and repair irrigation installation and maintenance; drive and operate skid-steer, tractor, or other farm vehicle as directed on farm property only.

Pay will be hourly.

Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent under Bureau of Labor Statistics Standard Occupational Classification: Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers (45-2092)

Special Requirements

Experience Requirement: 2 month(s) verifiable experience in commercial tree fruit hand harvest and vegetable hand harvest required. Applicants must furnish job references from employers of the last 3 years establishing acceptable prior experience.

Job requires worker to complete tasks in Brussel Sprouts, Carrots, Celery, Grounds, Sweet Corn, Eggplant, Peppers, Onions, Potatoes, Cherries, Flowers, Blackberries, Melons, Greens, Beets, Radishes, Green Beans, Wax Beans, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Winter Squash, Cucumbers, Kale, Rhubarb, Asparagus, Strawberries Zucchini, Tomatoes, Herbs, Basil, Dill, Pickles, Raspberries, Blueberries, Apricots, Plums, Peaches, Apples and Pumpkins. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.

Drug testing done at employer's expense and not utilized as a pre-employment tool.

Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for work for entire employment period.
