Job description
Crops: Potatoes, Corn, Soybeans
The workers will perform duties associated with the planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, grading, packing, and handling of potatoes, corn, and soybeans. Workers will assist with field preparation activities including preparing fields for planting, assisting with planting and transplanting crops, and monitoring field conditions. Workers will perform manual field tasks including rock picking, removal of sticks, debris, and foreign materials, and maintaining general field sanitation to promote safe and efficient crop production.
Workers will monitor soil moisture levels and assist with the operation, adjustment, and routine maintenance of irrigation systems. Workers may assist with identifying basic irrigation issues and performing routine irrigation line repairs and maintenance under supervisor direction. Workers may also assist with general field maintenance activities necessary to support crop production and harvest operations.
Workers will assist with harvest operations including operating agricultural equipment used for harvesting, loading and unloading harvested crops, and handling crops in a manner that prevents damage and maintains crop quality standards. Workers will also assist with post-harvest handling including grading and removing debris such as rocks, sticks, dirt, rotten potatoes, and other foreign materials during harvest and packing operations. Workers may place harvested potatoes into 50-pound bags and stack bags onto pallets for fresh market sale as directed by the supervisor.
Workers may operate agricultural equipment including tractors and farm machinery used in planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting activities. Workers may also operate farm trucks to haul potatoes and other harvested crops from fields to storage, packing, or farm facilities and may assist with transporting seed, fertilizer, and other agricultural materials between fields and farm locations.
Workers will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on tractors, irrigation systems, farm equipment, and farm trucks. Workers will clean, inspect, and service equipment to help ensure safe and efficient operation. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform assigned duties will be provided at no cost to the workers.
Workers will perform all duties as assigned by the supervisor consistent with agricultural crop production, harvest, and post-harvest handling operations.
Special Requirements
Must have 1 months of prior agricultural experience with tractor, truck driving, and irrigation. Workers must have a valid, insurable drivers license or be eligible to apply for same at no cost to the worker. Will be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business. Must have proficiency in English to communicate, read/comprehend traffic signage, and interact with roadway officials. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must comply with all safety training and employer policies.
Workers are not permitted to be under the influence of intoxicants of any kind during working hours. Employer reserves the right to conduct post-hire, employer-paid, upon-suspicion and/ or post-accident drug testing. Any employee who declines to take or fails a drug test will be immediately terminated.
