Job description
The Agricultural Worker will perform manual and mechanized duties related to the seasonal production of wheat, barley, soybeans, and canola. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Prepare land and fields for planting, including plowing, disking, leveling, fertilizing, and other field preparation activities.
• Attach, adjust, and detach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, planters, seed drills, and harvest equipment to tractors using hand tools.
• Operate tractors and other agricultural machinery to plant, cultivate, spray, fertilize, and harvest crops according to seasonal and crop requirements.
• Plant crops using planters and seed drills; cultivate and control weeds as needed.
• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides using hand or mechanized equipment.
• Operate harvesting equipment and assist with harvesting, handling, loading, unloading, and storage of crops.
• Load and unload crops, seed, fertilizer, and farm materials manually or with augers, conveyors, forklifts, hand-trucks, or similar equipment.
During periods when fieldwork is limited due to weather or seasonal conditions, workers will perform supportive agricultural duties, including:
• Clean, service, maintain, and perform routine repairs on farm equipment, machinery, and tools.
• Assist with assembling, repairing, and preparing equipment for upcoming planting and harvest seasons.
• Haul grain, seed, fertilizer, and farm supplies using trucks or farm equipment.
• Assist with grain handling operations, including loading and unloading grain bins, trucks, and storage facilities, and monitoring stored crops.
• Maintain farm buildings, yards, and work areas, including general cleanup, organization, and snow removal.
All duties are performed according to normal and accepted agricultural practices. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, repetitive motion, and lifting of up to 75 pounds.
Special Requirements
Three (3) months of recent and verifiable experience in the listed job duties is required. The worker must be able to obtain an
appropriate non-CDL drivers license after hire and maintain a clean driving record. Workers must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Upon hire,
workers may be required to undergo random drug testing at no cost to them. A positive test result for illegal or controlled substances,
or failure to comply, may result in immediate termination of employment.
