Job description

Workers will perform tasks related to nursery operations, including cultivating, propagating, and maintaining a variety of plants and vegetables. Duties include watering, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, staking, spacing, and monitoring overall plant health in both greenhouse and outdoor nursery settings. Workers will transplant plants into larger containers or grow bags, fill containers with potting soil, and prepare plants for sale, transport, or field planting. Duties include seeding and propagation, mowing, trimming, and removing weeds around plantings. Workers may till soil, apply fertilizers or pesticides, thin or prune crops, and assist in covering or protecting crops during weather events. Workers will clean, grade, sort, pack, label, and load harvested products. Workers will assist in field operations such as planting, pruning, staking, harvesting, and moving field-grown crops, from fields to designated loading areas. Tasks include operating irrigation systems, maintaining and repairing irrigation lines, and manually watering plants as needed. Using hand tools including shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Workers may operate nursery equipment such as tractors, skid steers, pot fillers, watering trucks, farm trucks, and other machinery used for planting, harvesting, and seasonal crop production. Workers must follow instructions to safely operate all equipment to ensure the safety of workers, crops, and property.

Special Requirements

No previous experience required. Employees must be able to lift and carry materials or equipment with a weight up to 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day. Must be able to read/write and communicate effectively in English/Spanish.
