Job description

Check for queen bee presence and health; Assess brood patterns and development; Identify signs of pests and diseases; Monitor food stores and add supplemental feed if needed; Recognize signs of swarming behavior; Perform hive splits to prevent swarming; Create and manage nucs; Identify and treat common bee diseases; Implement Varroa mite control strategies; Select the right time to harvest honey; Remove honey supers from the hive; Extract honey from the comb using a honey extractor; Clean and repair beekeeping equipment; Replace old frames and foundation; Add new hive boxes as needed; Provide adequate food stores for bees during winter; Protect hives from extreme weather conditions; Document hive inspections, treatments, and honey harvests; Track queen bee information.

Work schedules may vary, and employees may be assigned to rotating shifts, including evening or weekend work as needed. Duties may change during the workday depending on crop and weather conditions or other needs. Workers will perform a variety of general farm labor tasks as assigned, consistent with the job description and within the certified hours.

Must be available to work for the entire itinerary. Applicants must not have bee, pollen, or honey related allergies. Must provide name and contact info for previous employer references to verify applicant experience performing such activities.
