Job description
To effectively manage and control recent PRRS outbreaks, the workers will handle and remove existing hogs from affected areas safely and humanely. They will ensure the proper transfer and disposal of affected hogs in accordance with biosecurity guidelines and conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of all hog housing facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas to eliminate potential sources of infection. During cleaning procedures, the workers will follow recommended biosecurity protocols to prevents the spread of the PRRS virus. Additionally, they will assist with the reception and unloading of new hog shipments, monitoring and maintaining appropriate health and biosecurity measures for incoming hogs. The workers will be responsible for monitoring the health and well-being of newly arrived hogs and promptly reporting any signs of illness or abnormalities to farm management. Collaboration with farm management and other team members will be essential to effectively manage the PRRS Virus. See ETA 790 Addendum for additional details.
Special Requirements
Three (3) months of experience working with livestock. Workers must be able to follow detailed biosecurity protocol. Post-employment drug test is paid for by employer when applicable for safety purposes. Workers must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds for 75 yards.
