Field Workers (Onions) to perform the following duties: All work is performed in the field or in packing facility located on the grower’s ranch.

Finish Product Label Applier - Ensure that each box, sack, or unit of finished onions carries the correct lot identification label, guaranteeing traceability, regulatory compliance, and quality in the packaging process.

Main Responsibilities
• Apply lot labels to finished products (boxes, sacks, onion mesh bags).
• Verify that the information on the label (lot, date, code) is correct and legible.
• Maintain order and cleanliness in the labeling area.
• Report any irregularities in labels, printers, or supplies.
• Coordinate with quality supervisors to ensure compliance with traceability standards.
• Record quantities of labeled product in internal formats or systems.
• Comply with safety and hygiene policies in the workplace.

Job Description: Onion Sorter - The Onion Sorter is responsible for the visual and manual inspection of the product on the production or packaging line. The main objective is to ensure that only onions meeting quality, size, and sanitation standards reach the final customer, while removing impurities or defective product.
Main Responsibilities
• Visual Sorting: Identify and separate onions by size, color, and shape according to order specifications.
• Quality Control: Detect and discard product showing signs of rot, stains, cuts, sprouting, or pest damage.
• Product Cleaning: Remove excess dry skin (soil or loose outer layers) to improve the product’s aesthetic presentation.
• Foreign Matter Removal: Ensure the production line is free of stones, clumps of soil, weeds, or any objects foreign to the product.
• Supply Flow: Ensure the conveyor belt or weighing area maintains a constant and orderly flow.
• Work Area Maintenance: Keep the workstation clean and organized to comply with food safety standards.
Requirements and Skills
• Manual Dexterity: Ability to work quickly and repetitively with hands (fine motor skills).
• Visual Acuity: Ability to distinguish subtle variations in color and texture under different lighting conditions.
• Physical Endurance: Ability to remain standing for long shifts and perform constant bending or reaching movements.
• Attention to Detail: Continuous focus to prevent low-quality product from going unnoticed.
• Teamwork: Coordination with line coworkers and supervisors to meet daily production goals.

Special Requirements

1 month of agricultural equipment operation experience and 1 month harvest experience with any of the listed commodities. Specific requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and able to use hand tools, including cutting knives. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, alcohol, firearms in the field or residential housing.

Work is performed in open fields and may involve exposure to mud, dust, wind, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Temperatures can range from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the period of employment.
