Job description

Workers will perform a wide range of duties associated with the planting, cultivation, harvesting, and processing of agricultural commodities, including but not limited to alfalfa and corn production. This is a physically demanding, full-time position requiring versatility, attention to detail, and the ability to work long hours during peak agricultural seasons.

Primary responsibilities include operating and maintaining farm equipment used in tillage, planting, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting crops. Workers will drive trucks and trailers to transport crops, feed, and agricultural materials between fields, storage facilities, and processing locations. Duties also include assisting with crop harvesting activities such as cutting, baling, packing, and loading harvested products. Workers will also assist with nutrient application.

Additional responsibilities include general farm maintenance and shop work, including routine equipment servicing such as greasing, oil changes, tire inspections, and minor mechanical repairs. Workers may assist with basic agricultural construction projects, facility upkeep, and repair of farm structures as needed to support overall farm operations.

Employees will also participate in livestock-related duties, including the care of young stock and calves. Tasks may include feeding, watering, monitoring health conditions, cleaning pens, assisting with basic animal husbandry practices, and supporting milking operations. Workers will assist with feed operations, including hauling feed, operating feed mill equipment, and ensuring proper storage and distribution of feed supplies.

General farm labor duties will be assigned as needed and may vary depending on seasonal demands. Workers must be willing to perform all tasks required to support the farming operation, including duties as assigned.

Due to the seasonal and weather-dependent nature of agriculture, workers should expect to work extended hours, especially during peak planting and harvest periods. Employees may work up to 100 hours per week during peak season. Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A day off will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations; however, the specific day off for each worker will be at the discretion of the employer based on operational needs and harvest demands.

Special Requirements

Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. The employer may request additional work hours based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of electronic devices during work hours is restricted to emergencies only.
