Farm Labor Workers

Job description

Workers will perform temporary agricultural labor related exclusively to the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of sweet potatoes. Duties are routine in nature, require no prior experience, and are performed under close supervision following employer instructions.

Workers will prepare fields for planting; plant sweet potato slips by hand or using mechanical transplanters; perform weeding, hoeing, and chopping; install, maintain, and remove plastic mulch and drip irrigation lines; and perform general crop maintenance activities.

Workers will harvest sweet potatoes by hand and may assist with mechanical harvesting. Harvesting duties include digging, picking, collecting, grading, and placing sweet potatoes into field containers. Workers must handle crops carefully to avoid damage.

Workers will perform field clean-up, remove crop debris, and complete other general farm labor duties directly related to sweet potato production. Workers may use hand tools and simple farm equipment as instructed. No operation of complex machinery or vehicles is required.

All duties are performed in the field under the direct supervision of the employer. No independent judgment or specialized skills are required. On-the-job training will be provided.
