Job description
Summer Prune trees, harvest apples and stone fruit, orchard maintenance, bin repair, hand thinning, planting trees, picking up roots & rocks, Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. -Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. -Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions. -Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, building maintenance, -Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment. -Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. -Attach farm implements such as
plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools. -Direct and monitor the activities of work crews engaged in planting, weeding, or harvesting activities. -Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops. -Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information. -Walk beside or ride on planting machines while inserting plants in planter mechanisms at specified intervals. operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (weather on or off the farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach the farm fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess an appropriate license, no one will be rejected for this position that does not possess a drivers license. . Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given by the supervisor for each day's work. The activities outlined in the job description will be conducted solely on the worksite which is owned and operated by the employer. Workers are expected to work the number of days and hours specified. Depending on weather, crop or other conditions. Employer will furnish workers, without cost, all the tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothes. While working in the field, phone usage is limited to emergency
use only.
