Farm Worker

Job description

Nursery Worker. Perform manual labor to plant, pot, transplant, cultivate, water, weed, prune, trim, stake, tag, and maintain nursery plants, including native plants, in greenhouse and outdoor growing areas. Duties include preparing planting areas and growing media, moving plants, loading and unloading nursery stock and materials, and performing general nursery upkeep. Workers will use simple hand tools and equipment, including shovels, rakes, hoes, pruners, hand trowels, wheelbarrows, carts, wagons, and hoses. Workers may assist with preparing employer-grown plants for sale by tagging, organizing, pulling orders, and loading customer pickups. No experience required. Employer will provide on-the-job training.

Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds of soil, plants, pots, and other nursery materials. Work is physically demanding and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and repetitive hand movements. Workers may get dirty while performing greenhouse and outdoor nursery duties. Drug/alcohol-free work zone. Workers after hire, may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker.
