Job description
Workers will perform duties associated with agricultural equipment operation and general farmwork to support seasonal crop production, land management, and overall farm operations. The primary function of this position is the operation of agricultural equipment and machinery.
June – July: Workers will perform field preparation and early production activities for corn, wheat, and hay crops. Duties include operating tractors, loaders, and tillage equipment including disking and other soil preparation methods to prepare soil for planting and growth, as well as assisting with planting activities, as well as performing manure scraping and removal using appropriate equipment. Workers will operate and maintain irrigation systems, including center pivot irrigation systems, and maintain roadways, drainage areas, and general work sites.
August – September: Workers will perform crop maintenance and irrigation activities for corn, wheat, and hay production. Duties include operating and monitoring irrigation systems, maintaining soil and field conditions, performing manure management, repairing fencing, and operating agricultural equipment to support crop growth. Workers may assist with spraying applications as needed and will operate equipment such as choppers and balers in preparation for harvest.
October – November: Workers will perform harvesting activities for crops. Duties include operating combines, balers, mowers, and other harvesting equipment to harvest crops. Workers will load, haul, and store harvested materials, stack and secure hay bales, and transport grain and forage. Workers will operate tractors, loaders, and trucks to support harvesting and material handling.
December – January: Workers will perform post-harvest and winter preparation activities. Duties include operating equipment for feed handling and distribution, maintaining stored crops, performing equipment maintenance and minor repairs, maintaining irrigation systems as needed, repairing fencing, and completing general farm and facility upkeep. Workers may also perform winter-related duties such as snow removal, ice control, and salt spreading to maintain safe access to farm facilities and roadways.
Special Requirements
Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. These hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of cell phones during work hours is prohibited, supervisors will have phones in case of emergency.
