Job description
Worker will operate various farm equipment and vehicles such as potato windrower, potato harvester, tractors, planters, planter fillers and cultivating machinery. Duties include driving tractor and pulling tillage tools to prepare the fields for planting. Worker will also drive straight trucks with potatoes from the field to the packinghouse. They will be responsible for maintaining equipment.
Worker will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be in possession of the requisite physical strength, working quickly and skillfully. The employer will provide specific instructions in the proper way to perform the job duties. Thereafter, the worker will be expected to perform the task with diligence as instructed, taking care not to damage machinery or equipment. Worker will be expected to maintain pace and to perform the work in a manner specified by the employer. Worker should follow all safety instructions. Worker must also be able to adapt to job changes as season progresses. This job may be performed under varying outdoor extreme weather conditions such as heat, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen.
If worker has a clean driving record and is able to obtain an insurable driver's license, worker may drive company vehicles.
Special Requirements
Workers must have experience operating heavy farm equipment since operators will use very expensive machinery during the harvesting process. Therefore, it is critical that these operators have sufficient experience and know how to operate each of these machines and equipment or they could easily cause damage that would cost the employer hundreds of thousands of dollars.
