Farmworker/laborer

Job description

Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: general farm maintenance and clean up of farm buildings, grain systems , and grounds, including removing debris, rocks and other trash on the farm, weeding, cutting grass, repairing fences, and cleaning harvest and storage containers; prune, stake, seed, transplant, tie, harvest, bale, load, unload, wash, and sort/pack crops; install, maintain, and repair irrigation and raised plastic beds; haul pumpkins to market with all locations allowing workers to reasonably return within same workday; drive and operate skid-steer, tractor, or other farm vehicle as directed on farm property only.

Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent under Bureau of Labor Statistics Standard Occupational Classification: Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers (45-2092)

Special Requirements

Experience Requirement: 2 month(s) verifiable experience in commercial vegetable hand harvest required. Applicants must furnish job references from employers of the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.

Job requires worker to complete tasks in Sweet Corn, Green Beans, Tomatoes (Normal, Roma, and Grape), Watermelon (Seeded and Seedless), Cantaloupe, Specality Melon, Peppers (Bell, Jalapeno, Banana, Assorted Hot), Eggplant, Summer Squash, Zucchini, Cucumbers, Onions, Cabbage, Pumpkins, Fall Squash, Gourds, Straw Bales.. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.

Drug testing done at employers expense and not utilized as pre-employment tool.

Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for work for entire employment period.
