Job description

Workers will perform construction labor and repair work on agricultural livestock confinement buildings and related farm structures. Workers will travel to farms to repair, replace, and maintain building components including doorways, doors, door frames, wall panels, endwalls, windows, window frames, trim, hardware, filter banks, ventilation openings, and large endwall fans. Workers may perform basic framing and smaller framing repair projects needed to support building repairs, fan replacement, filter bank work, panel replacement, and other structural or fixture repairs.

Workers will measure, mark, cut, shape, align, assemble, fasten, anchor, brace, remove, and replace building materials using rulers, tape measures, pencils, chalk, marking gauges, nails, screws, bolts, anchors, steel cables, planks, wedges, lumber, and other construction materials. Workers may remove damaged or defective parts of agricultural buildings and replace or repair those parts. Workers may install or repair rough door and window frames, paneling, endwall components, temporary supports, fixtures, hardware, and other building components used in livestock confinement systems.

Workers may erect, move, and use ladders, scaffolding, braces, and temporary supports to access work areas above ground level. Workers may dig or assist with digging post holes, set posts or poles, clean and prepare work areas, load and unload building materials, move tools and materials to work areas, remove debris, and perform jobsite clean-up. Workers may assist with incidental construction tasks including minor concrete mixing or patching, minor plumbing-related repair, minor welding, and handling materials required for building repair work. Any such tasks will be incidental to agricultural building repair and construction labor.

Workers will use hand tools, power tools, power saws, drills, impact drivers, grinders, measuring tools, ladders, scaffolding, small equipment, and other tools and equipment necessary to perform agricultural building repair work. Workers must follow employer instructions, safety procedures, and project specifications. Work will be performed on farms and agricultural worksites and may require working outdoors or in livestock confinement environments.

Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application. The employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise.

Workers who agree to drive must comply with the employer’s fleet policy agreement prior to driving any company vehicles. Workers must not drive a company vehicle unless employee has been provided written permission to do so.
