Job description

Job requires operating sizing/grading systems for beet harvest; driving non-CDL farm trucks to haul product; operating forklifts; and using mechanical skills to repair and maintain equipment. Workers will operate farm equipment and assist with harvest activities. Duties include operation of the outdoor harvest line that removes loose dirt and size grades product into dump trucks for storage in bulk piles, as well as recording truckloads and assisting with inventory tracking. Employees may use telehandlers or skid steers to move materials and must have basic welding, electrical, and mechanical skills. Equipment operated includes forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, conveyors, elevators, and power tools. Manual duties include hand tool use; greasing and cleaning equipment; pressure washing; climbing ladders; lifting materials; shoveling; sweeping; and general maintenance work. Employees must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for logging crop intake and tracking loads. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer. Per the Farm Laborer Fair Labor Protections Act, effective January 1, 2026, all farmworkers, including H-2A foreign guest workers, will earn one and a half times the regular rate for all hours worked over 52, and for any hours voluntarily worked on a workers day of rest.

Special Requirements

Other job requirements are having basic English literacy and math skills. Employees must have or be able to obtain a basic US Class D driver's license within 30 days of hire. Job will require workers to be outdoors while working. Many job duties will be performed on foot. Summer temperatures can be 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher and fall/winter temperatures can get below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Working in the fields with hand tools will require pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, lifting up to 100 lbs, and performing repetitive movements.
