Job description

Melon Harvest- Workers will harvest Tuscan cantaloupe, Sweetness and Mixed melon varieties, including packing, stacking, cutting, pitching, labeling, classifying and sorting products.
Watermelon Harvest- Field Harvest workers will harvest watermelons, including cutting, pitching, stacking, labeling, classifying and sorting products.

Crew Lead- Team Leaders will additionally be responsible for checking quality, filling out paperwork, and receiving order for production. May clock in other workers.

Machine set up- Worker will check the machine for water and diesel; Put sticker on bags; Supply cartons for the day and put on the machine; Open or close machine; Put machine where crew will start; move trailer, drive tractor and caterpillar.

Agriculture Equipment Operator – Agriculture equipment operators will drive and control tractors, forklifts in fields.

Sanitation Worker – The sanitation worker is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and relocation of restroom facilities on agricultural worksites, including farms and fields. Duties include the operation of pressure-washing equipment to sanitize restrooms, harvest machinery, and other necessary equipment. The worker must ensure all cleaning procedures meet health and safety standards, maintaining a sanitary and compliant work environment. Sanitation is done a minority of the workdays as they do not work daily on this job duty. At the end of the contract, Sanitation will be completed less than 50% of the total workdays Consequently, Sanitation is not a primary job duty in this job order.

• Weeding using long-handled hoes and by hand, (Weeding of hand is occasional/intermittent, less than 20% of weekly work time. Employer complies with the California health and safety rules applicable to hand weeding).

Special Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications: One month experience in melon and/or watermelon harvest is required. Work is performed in open fields and may involve exposure to mud, dust, wind, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Temperatures can range from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. No smoking, alcohol, firearms in the field or residential housing. Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is required for training and safety purposes. (i.e. Workers must listen to, understand and follow instructions of Employer supervisors and managers.)
