Farm Worker-strawberry Harvest

Job description

Workers will perform duties associated with and directly related to strawberry harvesting and field operations. Duties include, but are not limited to: harvesting strawberries, packaging strawberries in trays and/or containers in the field, transplanting plants, thinning plants, removing diseased or damaged fruit and performing general field work for fresh market and processing markets.

Workers must be able to identify strawberry maturity and quality and harvest fruit according to supervisor instructions to avoid crop damage. Workers will place harvested strawberries into trays and/or containers while working in the field. When containers are filled, workers will place them at the end of the row for collection, were they will be stacked and prepared for pickup and transportation by trucks.

Work requires prolonged walking, repetitive bending, stooping, kneeling and repetitive hand and wrist movements. Workers must be able to lift, carry and load up to 50 pounds. Workers must have a minimum of 1 month of experience performing strawberry harvesting or similar agricultural harvesting work.

All tools, supplies and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties will be provide by the employer at no cost to the worker.
