Job description
Operate agricultural equipment used in the production of carrots, onions, beets, shallots, and other row crops on farm-owned or controlled worksites. Operate tractors, farm trucks and implements such as planters, cultivators, tillage equipment, sprayers, harvest-support equipment, loaders, and related machinery used in field preparation, planting, cultivation, and harvest activities. Perform field operations requiring precision alignment, spacing, depth control, and safe maneuvering of equipment in active agricultural worksites. Duties may include disking, ripping, listing, bed shaping, planting, cultivating, spraying, harvesting support, and other mechanized crop production tasks. Drive farm trucks, including straight-frame trucks, as incidental to agricultural operations to transport harvested commodities, seed, fertilizer, equipment, and supplies between fields, storage areas, packing facilities, and other farm locations associated with the employer's operations. Load and unload agricultural materials and position trucks for field loading and unloading activities. Inspect, service, and maintain equipment daily. Perform pre-operation and post-operation checks, monitor machinery performance, check fluids, lubricate components, clean equipment, inflate tires, replace minor parts, and perform basic mechanical adjustments or minor in-field repairs. Assist with general agricultural support duties when needed, including irrigation setup, rock removal, hand loading/unloading of materials, field sanitation, and maintaining clean and orderly work areas. Follow all company safety rules and operating procedures. Safely work around other equipment, field workers, traffic areas, and changing field conditions. Maintain accurate records of hours worked, equipment usage, maintenance activities, and assigned field tasks. Workers will labor outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, mud, dust, and uneven terrain. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds, climb on and off equipment repeatedly, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work long hours during peak planting and harvest periods as required by crop and weather conditions. 6 months of verifiable experience operating agricultural equipment and farm trucks. Ability to safely operate tractors and related implements in row crop environments. Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work independently or as part of a team. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain authorization to operate employer vehicles required by state law.
Special Requirements
Must pass a post-employment, post incident drug testing, and reasonable suspicion drug testing paid by employer and applied equally to all workers, U.S. and foreign/H-2A. Workers may be offered more hours but will not be required to work more than the hours specified in the job order or on the workers Sabbath or Federal Holidays. Applicants must complete an employment application. Must have 6 months of recent, verifiable previous agricultural equipment operator experience and be able to obtain a valid driver license. Must pass pre-employment criminal background check. Workers employed in the Agricultural Equipment Operator / Ag-Machine Operator position in Washington State will be paid no less than the highest applicable wage required by federal or state law, including the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), prevailing wage, agreed-upon collective bargaining wage, federal minimum wage, or state minimum wage, as applicable.
