Job description

The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with the tomato harvest. Agricultural Equipment Operator / Bus Driver will safely operate farm equipment in the field such as field trucks, tractors and forklifts. Duties will include taking loads of tomatoes to the packing facility, tying loads of tomatoes, untying loads, unloading full bins of crop, loading empty bins, returning them to the field and washing the farm equipment. They may also include dumping tomatoes, field walking and other general farm labor or relevant duties as directed by farm operator.

They will also conduct simple daily vehicle maintenance checks (DOT pre and post-trip inspections), pick up workers from employer-provided housing, take them to the worksite, and drive them back to their housing. They will only spend about fifteen percent of their workday doing these driving duties.

This job will be done under varying outdoor extreme weather conditions such as heat, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged walking, standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis. Must have or be able to obtain immediately a farm labor contractor license. Background check and random drug testing will be post-hire at employer's expense.

Special Requirements

Workers must be dependable and punctual and have the ability to stand, bend, and work for long periods outdoors. They must pay attention to detail and quality. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by supervisors and practice safety in all aspects of work. (Job specific qualifications in Addendum C.)
