Job description

Duties may include: Feeding, inspecting, splitting beehives using specific hive tools, smokers, and feeding pumps, create nucleus colonies from existing beehives, building bee related equipment: boxes, frames, lids, and pallets. Worker must be familiar with working with bees in all stages, from the egg through fully developed workers, drones and queens. Worker(s) will assist in assessing a colony to determine if bees need medicating. Worker(s) will be expected to maintain hives to ensure the hive stays in a healthy state. Worker will assist in honey harvesting. General maintenance and servicing of beekeeping equipment and beekeeping facilities. Load hives and harvested honey into trucks, and drive trucks to market location or storage facilities. Worker may also assist in coffee tree farm as needed. Duties will include manually picking ripe coffee cherries and carrying them in baskets, often requiring navigating steep or uneven terrain & other related Beekeeper; Farm Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate.

Special Requirements

Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 60lbs (possible 2-person); may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal.
