Job description
Workers will perform a variety of duties related to the handling, grading, packing, and general production of sweet potatoes. Duties include, but are not limited to, repairing and maintaining wooden and plastic potato bins; grading, sorting, and culling sweet potatoes according to quality standards; monitoring product quality and communicating quality concerns or changes to field supervisors and management; performing general farm work as assigned, including grading, packing, stacking, cleaning, sanitation, and other tasks associated with the packing line and farm operation; assisting with loading, unloading, and moving agricultural products and materials as needed; and maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Work schedules may include Saturdays and Sundays as required to meet operational needs. Due to weather conditions, crop conditions, market demands, or other agricultural factors beyond the employer's control, workers should expect periods of reduced hours or little to no work. No prior experience is required, and workers will receive orientation and training on all assigned job duties and safety procedures before performing work. The employer will provide all tools, supplies, and equipment necessary to perform the assigned duties at no cost to the worker. The work is physically demanding and requires workers to stand and/or sit for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, lift and carry materials as assigned, and work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures, including hot, cold, humid, dusty, and wet environments. Workers are required to follow all employer safety rules, policies, and instructions at all times. Repeated failure to comply with established safety requirements, policies, or instructions may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Special Requirements
No experience required. Employer will provide all training, orientation, and safety instruction. Workers must be able to perform repetitive tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, bend, lift, carry, and work in hot, cold, humid, dusty, or wet conditions. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors. Saturday and Sunday work may be required depending on crop and operational needs. Workers should expect periods of reduced hours or little to no work due to weather, crop conditions, or other agricultural factors beyond the employer's control. Workers must follow all safety rules and employer instructions. Repeated failure to comply with safety requirements may result in disciplinary action, including termination. All tools and equipment required to perform the job will be provided at no cost to the worker.
