Job description
Duties may include: Locate worn or torn areas in roofs. Prepare roofs for the application of new roofing materials by sweeping, cleaning, and removing old or damaged roofing materials. Cover roofs with layers of asphalt strips, felt, or ice and water shield before the installation of composite shingles, membrane, metal, slate, or tile roofing. Assist roofers with installation of new roofs by hauling roofing materials and supplies as requested. Place composition shingles, membrane, metal, slate or tiles, secure to roof deck, and cover nailheads with roofing cement. Ensure completed roofs are watertight. Use hand tools such as caulking gun, flat bar, hammer tacker, nail gun, razor knife, roofing shovel, or tin snips. Clear drains and downspouts and clean gutters. Clean up and remove any roofing debris to onsite trash receptacles to ensure clean and safe worksite & other related Helpers--Roofers activities as per SOC/OES 47-2181 (onetonline.org). Standard/Expected Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-7:00PM. Offering 50+ (plus) hours per week; not including applicable lunch and/or breaks. Possible weekend work. Start/end times, offered hours and/or overtime could vary as they may be dependent upon other factors such as project/schedule/service needs, weather, and commute time between worksites (if applicable). Overtime possible, but not required or guaranteed. At Employer’s sole discretion: possible raises and/or bonuses based on individual factors such as work performance or skill (not guaranteed). Piece rate may apply: worker will never make less than Prevailing Wage or Federal/State/Local minimum wage. Optional, shared furnished housing available to the worker (including: electricity, internet, power & water) at a monthly housing rate up to $300; if optional housing is agreed upon by the worker, monthly housing rate is to be paid directly to the landlord each month.
Special Requirements
Must be 18 due to equipment use. Must show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Perform physical activities: such as lift, balance, walk, stoop, handle, position, move, manipulate materials use static strength to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, carry objects up to 50lbs. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Possible background check post hire at employer's expense.Work is performed outdoors, exposed to weather; must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, occasionally in extreme heat or cold. Variable weather conditions apply; hours may fluctuate (+/-), possible downtime and/or overtime.
