Job description

Job duties include operating trucks and equipment to transport sugarcane from various worksites, in connection with the harvesting of a perishable crop, from the fields to the mill operating a tractor-trailer combination; deliver sugarcane to designated locations (without leaving tractor-trailer combination); DOT Approved CDL required; 2 months previous experience of driving tractor-trailer combination/cane transport equipment required. Job involves extensive sitting, exposure to extreme temperatures, repetitive movements, and frequent stooping. Worker must be able to lift/carry sufficient weight (approximately 50 pounds) to move equipment and material necessary to complete assigned tasks.  The Employer will rely on workers own representations and observations of workers to assess if the workers meet this qualification. Travel is required to and from field locations; transportation is provided; drug screening may be required upon hire and randomly (paid for by employer). Bonus may be paid at the end of contract at the discretion of the employer. Base hours offered is 40 hours; overtime hours are usually offered during plentiful season and may include an additional 10- 40 hours of overtime work depending on the nature of the season; higher wage may be paid based on experience. Daily schedule includes one unpaid lunch hour.

El trabajo implica permanecer sentado por períodos prolongados, exposición a temperaturas extremas, movimientos repetitivos y agacharse con frecuencia. El trabajador debe ser capaz de levantar/transportar suficiente peso (aproximadamente 50 libras) para mover el equipo y materiales necesarios para completar las tareas asignadas. El empleador se basará en las propias declaraciones del trabajador y en observaciones para evaluar si cumple con esta calificación. Se requiere viajar hacia y desde las ubicaciones en el campo; el transporte es proporcionado. Puede requerirse una prueba de drogas al momento de la contratación y de forma aleatoria (pagada por el empleador). Se puede otorgar un bono al final del contrato a discreción del empleador. Las horas base ofrecidas son 40 horas; generalmente se ofrecen horas extras durante la temporada de mayor actividad y pueden incluir entre 10 y 40 horas adicionales dependiendo de la naturaleza de la temporada. Puede pagarse un salario más alto según la experiencia. El horario diario incluye una hora de almuerzo no remunerada.

Special Requirements

The worker must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.

Applicants must have the following documents:
Police report from each state where the applicant has worked or lived for more than three months in the previous 10 years.
Copies of all commercial driver's licenses held by the applicant.
A copy of their driving record.
