Job description

Required to travel according to and available to work through the entire established shearing itinerary. All job duties are closely and directly related to animal shearing activities.
Perform any combination of the following tasks to shear sheep: assist with setup and tear down of mobile shearing plant; help move sheep in and out of shearing areas; maintain and repair equipment and shearing facility to the standard established by the employer; oil hand pieces and sharpen combs and cutters; oil hand pieces and sharpen combs and cutters; tag, belly, crutch and/or shear feedlot lambs and pregnant ewes, shearing loose without tying feet; use skill and caution to avoid nicking, pinking or cutting skin to avoid cuts and injury to sheep.

Special Requirements

Required to: perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision, work outdoors in all types of weather and may
experience occasional exposure to hazards such as poisonous snakes and large game animals, biting insects and extreme
temperature, adhere to strict standards established by the employer for handling of the sheep, cleaning and sanitation of udders,
and the maintenance, operation, cleaning, and sanitation of the premises, parlor, equipment, tools, and supplies, must be able to
shear 140 ewes/lambs a day after an initial 5 day break-in period, be willing to tag, belly, crutch and shear sheep during hot
summer months and take appropriate precautions to avoid heat stress in sheep.
