Job description

Prepare, serve, and feed nutritionally balanced snacks and meals for children. Dress children or assist them with dressing. Engage children in age-appropriate activities such as reading, sports, arts and crafts, and outdoor play to promote their physical and intellectual development. Collaborate with parents to implement discipline programs that encourage desirable behavior. Help with homework and school assignments to support their learning. Instruct and assist children in developing healthy personal habits, such as eating and personal hygiene. Model appropriate social behaviors and foster empathy to support the development of interpersonal and communication skills. Supervise age-appropriate chores and positively reinforce target behaviors to build self-control, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility. Remove potential hazards and establish appropriate boundaries and household rules to ensure a safe environment. Administer first aid when necessary. Observe children's behavior for signs of illness or irregularities, take temperatures, and administer medication as directed to support their health and wellbeing. Perform housekeeping and cleaning tasks related to the children's care. Encourage good behavior while playing with household pets and involving the children in pet-related activities. Transport children to activities, social outings, and medical appointments. Shop for groceries, clothing, and other items needed for the children’s care. All duties will be performed within a private household setting, with errands and outings in or within regular commuting distance of the same Metropolitan Statistical Area as the worksite. Medications administered are limited to pediatric over-the-counter and physician-prescribed oral and topical medications in the form of liquids, tablets, pills, and topical creams or ointments. Worker measures liquid doses; assists child in taking medication orally; applies topical medications to the skin; records and reports doses to parents; and stores medication safely, according to parent or physician instructions regarding medication type, modality, dosage, and schedule. Worker does not select medications, determine dosages, or administer injections.

Special Requirements

No education required. Minimum of 12 months of experience as a nanny or childcare worker. Must be able to lift and carry weight sufficient to move equipment and material necessary to complete assigned tasks. Ability to stand throughout the shifts. Ability to physically engage in sports and active play with children. Use of kitchen appliances, laundry machines, and the household automobile. Possession of or eligibility for Florida drivers license. 40 hours per week, 6 days per week. Schedule may vary and can include evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed. Employer will rely on workers own representations and observations of worker to assess if worker meets the lifting, standing, and other physical ability requirements stated herein.
