Farm Laborer

Job description

Perform manual agricultural labor related to the handling, preparation, processing, and storage of hay crops. Duties include removing and disposing of twine, wire, and netting from large square and round hay bales; manually separating, sorting, and inspecting hay for moisture content, mold, weeds, and foreign material to maintain quality standards; and loading loose hay by hand onto conveyors, hoppers, and feeding systems used in hay compression and rebaling operations.

Additional duties include cleaning work areas, barns, processing equipment, and storage facilities by removing dust, loose hay, straw, and debris using brooms, shovels, and air blowers to maintain safe and sanitary agricultural working conditions. Workers will perform basic maintenance and care of hand tools and equipment used in daily hay handling operations.

Special Requirements

Workers will manually lift, carry, stack, and arrange rebaled hay bales weighing up to 85 pounds onto pallets, storage areas, trailers, and transport vehicles. Employees may use hand trucks and other non-powered equipment to move and load hay products for storage and shipment.
