Job description

General hands-on labor in wholesale potted plant production greenhouse; prepare potting soil; fill pots with soil; haul plants and pots of soil; irrigate crops; apply pesticides, fungicides, and plant growth regulators; plant maintenance; plant and trim; harvest plants; order assembly; pack plants into boxes; load delivery trucks; unload on-site deliveries; general greenhouse maintenance; dig holes/ditches; mow and weed-eat; haul gravel for interior walkways; replace bench boards; apply and remove roof whitewashing compound. Workers must have a valid Texas driver’s license or be willing to obtain a driver’s license within 60 days of reporting to work. Workers may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers and nursery products. These workers would need to provide written permission for employer to review their driver's record, and be eligible for employer’s vehicle insurance (i.e. have a clean driving record). Workers will transport nursery products within the counties of Angelina, Atascosa, Bandera, Bee, Bexar, Blanco, Brazos, Burnet, Caldwell, Collin, Comal, Concho, Crockett, Dallas, Denton, DeWitt, Ector, Fort Bend, Gillespie, Goliad, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Harris, Hays, Howard, Karnes, Kaufman, Kendall, Kimble, Lavaca, Live Oak, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Midland, Montgomery, Nueces, Reagan, Refugio, Rockwall, Rusk, San Patricio, Smith, Sterling, Sutton, Tarrant, Tom Green, Travis, Victoria, Williamson, Wilson. In addition to driving other workers to/from the housing to the greenhouse properties, they may also transport workers to the grocery store, bank, laundry facilities, and other such errands on an as-needed basis.

Special Requirements

Monday-Friday, Schedule, start/end times, & hours per week will vary based on seasonal demand. Anywhere from 40-80 hrs/wk, with work at the greenhouse ranging from as early as 7am to as late as 7pm. Rotating Saturdays and Sundays 8am-12pm. Able to be on your feet, walk, and work for up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week when seasonal demands increase. Able to work on roofs up to 20 above the ground. No experience required, will train.
