Job description

The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to perform farm labor and nursery work. Workers will perform plant care for various types of plants including blooming shrubs, ornamental shrubs, ground covers, greenhouse plants, palms, ferns, trees, shade plants and hanging baskets. Plant care duties include pruning, fertilizing, weeding, staking/training, plant health monitoring, chemical spraying, and irrigation management. Other duties include moving plants between fields, greenhouses and work areas; equipment operation including driving tractors, golf carts, and other nursery utility vehicles for transporting plants and materials; greenhouse and shade house maintenance (poly, shade, cloth, benches, PVC structures); cleaning work areas; soil and media mixing for planting and transplanting; trash and recycling removal; and counting inventory. Workers should follow safety and farm instructions. This job will be done under varying outdoor extreme weather conditions such as heat, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged walking, standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis.

Special Requirements

Workers must be dependable and punctual and have the ability to stand, bend, and work for long periods outdoors. They must pay attention to detail and quality. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by supervisors and practice safety in all aspects of work.
