Job description
Manually plant, cultivate, weed horticultural specialties. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; applying pesticides; or cleaning, grading, sorting, packing, and loading and hauling harvested products. May construct trellises, maintain and repair equipment, user repair fences and farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. Clean work areas, maintain grounds and landscaping using mowers, planters, trucks, tractors and other landscaping and irrigation equipment. Must be able to bend/stoop and push/pull frequently, be on feet all day, lift up to 50 lbs. Fast-paced environment. Workers are provided a two-day break-in period to acclimate to the demands of the job. Workers must be physically fit to perform job duties without succumbing to excessive exhaustion after break-in period. Workers will be provided safety training will be expected to handle tools/equipment safely and carefully so as to avoid damage and to protect the worker from potential injury. Workers may also do other various tasks to keep the nursery running including basic plumbing, electrical, and repairs to the facility. Approximate staggered entry: 4 workers to begin Sept 15 and 3 workers to begin Oct 15.
Special Requirements
Be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, cold. Lift and carry supplies. Follow instructions. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. . Lift up to 50 lbs.
