Job description
As general laborers, the workers will supplement workers already in place by performing physical labor activities at construction sites; assist coating sprayers by performing duties requiring less skill; use, supply, or hold materials or tools and clean work area and equipment; may operate hand and power tools of various types such as chipping hammers, earth tampers, and a variety of other small equipment; may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, and clean debris and other waste materials; safely operate company equipment, help with light maintenance and cleaning, and perform tasks as directed by supervisor or crew leader in a safe and timely manner. Workers will also perform end-of season duties such as cleaning up the worksite and removing the ice and snow. this includes, but is not limited to, removing worn, damaged, or outdated materials, clean debris from work areas by hand, or cleaning tools such as brooms, mops, buckets, vacuums, and ladders. Workers will also engage in cleaning/basic maintenance, such as removing grime, grease, or mud from the equipment, either by hand or using tools such as water hoses, brushes, sponges, and degreasers. Workers will also perform ice and snow removal tasks using tools, including shovels, ice choppers, rakes, and brooms, and may apply brine solutions to the ground as ice and snow pretreatment. Workers will assist coating sprayers by preparing and cleaning work areas; loading, unloading, moving, and staging materials; preparing foundation walls prior to spray application by cleaning them of debris; staging spray guns and lines, drain board, and rolls of foundation drain and drainage mats. Upon completion of the application, workers will assist with measurements and photographs of completed work and perform final cleanup before leaving the job. Tools, equipment, and materials used may include spray guns and lines, drain board, foundation drain, drainage mats, and materials associated with the coating application process. Workers will perform work in areas around foundations that have been excavated for project development. Some foundations may require additional digging on a case-by-case basis. In those situations, workers will dig trenches manually using shovels, picks, spades, digging bars, and rakes as needed. Workers may safely operate company equipment as required by the scope of work. Equipment may include pressure washers, portable generators, air compressors, water pumps, wheelbarrows, material carts, spray rigs, pickup trucks, dingos, skid steers, and other small construction equipment used to transport materials and support construction activities. Workers will help with light maintenance and cleaning by cleaning tools and equipment; removing dirt, mud, grease, coatings, and debris; washing equipment with water hoses, brushes, sponges, and degreasers; checking fluid levels; organizing tools and materials; and maintaining clean work areas. Workers will perform tasks as directed by the supervisor or crew leader, including loading, unloading, and staging materials; site preparation and cleanup; trench preparation; setting and removing braces and protective coverings; assisting skilled workers; handling tools and supplies; removing debris; and supporting general construction operations. End-of-season duties may include additional foundation preparation, including the removal of snow or ice. Final end-of-season duties may also include cleanup of fleet vehicles, accounting for tools and equipment used, and assisting with the consolidation of used inventory. Workers will operate dingos and skid steers to move waterproofing materials, spreading aggregate, debris, load and unload materials and assist with cleanup (not primary excavation). Pickup trucks will transport workers, tools, equipment, waterproofing materials, coatings, membranes, drainage products, and supplies.
Special Requirements
One month of construction or related experience. Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs. for 75 yards frequently throughout the workday. This position supports all areas of business as determined by supervisor and performs home division work on interior of homes during inclement weather. While performing the duties of this job, the temporary worker is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is often required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move heavy objects. Vision abilities pertaining to this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
