Teaching Assistant - Elementary School

Job description

Assist elementary school licensed teacher with instructional duties. Support licensed teacher in the design and implementation of educational programs and services for elementary school.

Tutor and assist students, individually or in small groups, in a multi-grade classroom environment to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers on core subject areas including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Assist teachers with different instruction methods to meet diverse student learning needs. Implement early literacy and numeracy strategies, as directed by teacher. Teach social skills to students, using culturally responsive instructional practices appropriate for rural Alaska communities. Maintain accurate student records and provide feedback to monitor student progress. Utilize technology for instruction, communication, and reporting. Supervise students in classroom, school premises and field trips.

Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment. Communicate regularly with parents and community members. Collaborate with supervising teacher, aides, support staff, and administration. Participate in professional development and district meetings. Support school-wide activities and student programs.

Special Requirements

High School Diploma or Foreign Equivalent. Workdays and Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:15am to 4:15pm, including hour duty free lunch break. Employer will offer at least (no less than) 40 hours per week.
