Job description

Workers will perform duties related to the cultivation, care, and harvesting of oysters in leased water parcels. Responsibilities include placing, monitoring, and maintaining oyster seed in specially designed cages located within the natural aquatic environment. Workers will observe oyster growth and overall health, identify signs of disease, discoloration, or abnormalities, and help maintain proper growing conditions to support healthy oyster development. Workers will flip, inspect, and maintain oyster cages on a bi-weekly basis to promote uniform growth and prevent oysters from binding together. They will repair and replace damaged cages as needed, including damage caused by aquatic predators and normal wear. As oysters grow, workers will transfer them into larger cage compartments to provide adequate space and support continued development until market size is reached. Once oysters reach commercial size, workers will retrieve cages from the water parcels, open the cages, and remove the oysters.
