Job description
Worker must possess the physical strength and endurance (ability to continue or last) to repeat the harvest process though out the workday, working quickly and skillfully to perform activities assigned during that activity. Workers may not leave trash, or other discarded items in work areas or vehicles but must dispose of such items in provided receptacles. Workers must wash hands with soap and water after all bathroom and meal breaks. Allergies to varieties of ragweed, goldenrod, insecticides, related agricultural chemicals, etc, may affect workers ability to perform the work described herein.
Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations.
I. General Summary:
Under the direction of the irrigation crew leader, the pipe mover will perform duties such as assembly and disassembly of irrigation lines and possibly mainline.
Essential Functions:
a. Assembly and disassemble of pipe- Employee will disassemble old pipe by hand and possible use of hand tools. Employee will assemble new pipe by hand and possible use of hand tools.
b. Pipe Movement: Workers may be required to move pipe into field, move pipe out of field and clear fields of foreign materials or of unwanted items. This might require employees to walk in-front of machines, next to machines, or behind the machines for extended period of time.
c. Driving a tractor to pull pipe.
d. Crew Driver- Employee will drive workers to the worksite, to the grocery store, and to the homesite.
e. Employees will be required to abide by all people safety and food safety regulations and will be required to participate in ongoing safety trainings.
II. Physical demand/work environment
The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Employee must be able to lift up-to 50 lbs. frequently. Employee will be required to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, and bend extensively. Employee must be able to use hand tools to perform maintenance, repairs, or basic upkeep of equipment. Employee must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions including rain, cold, heat and high winds. Employee must be able to work in temperatures that can range from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the time of employment. Work is performed based on work temperatures thus employee must be able to work in the day, evening or nights. Employees will be exposed to different weather conditions such as dust, mud, snow and other natural elements. This work may entail exposure to plant pollens, insects and noxious plants. During any period of time when the fields and crops are treated with insect or disease control sprays, employee will be required to abide by the Worker Protection Standards and re-entry times.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Ability to multi-task
Minimum 3 months of irrigation/pipe movement experience
Strong organization skills and the ability to set and achieve goals
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
Must be at least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Special Requirements
Must have 2 months experience of irrigation/pipe movement experience. Must be at least 18 years old, and legally authorized to work in the US. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. All drug testing will occur after the worker begins his or her employment and is not a part of the interview process. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
