Job description
Operate agricultural equipment used in the grain operation, including tractors with tillage equipment, tractor grain carts, and combines when needed. Drive trucks hauling grain from the field to the farmstead, bin site, local grain elevators, grain merchants, and market to support the harvest operation. Perform grain handling and transportation efficiently as harvest progresses to keep the harvest moving and prevent crop losses during weather dependent and crop condition dependent operations. Perform routine servicing of the equipment operated by checking fluid levels, greasing equipment, and changing oil and filters when necessary to keep equipment running during the harvest season. These duties are normal farm activities intended to prevent downtime and do not include mechanical repair work. Safely operate large agricultural machinery, follow work instructions, and properly care for assigned equipment. The position requires experience operating agricultural equipment and experience operating a semi truck pulling a grain trailer from the field to on-farm storage or nearby elevators. A CDL is not required. Work includes transporting grain efficiently throughout the harvest season to support timely harvesting and delivery. The worker must operate equipment safely, perform assigned harvesting and grain hauling duties efficiently, and help complete seasonal harvest operations within the limited time available due to weather and crop conditions. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
