Job description
Assist roofers in the installation, repair, and replacement of commercial and residential roofing systems. Load and unload roofing materials, carry supplies to roof areas, and prepare work surfaces by removing debris and old roofing materials by hand. Position ladders, scaffolds, and safety equipment. Hold, cut, and position roofing materials, such as shingles, metal panels, underlayment, insulation board, and membrane sheets, into place for the roofer to secure. Clean and maintain work areas, remove waste from roofs, and dispose of materials as directed. Follow all safety instructions while working on flat and pitched roofs at varying heights. Work requires repetitive lifting, bending, kneeling, carrying up to 75 pounds, and climbing ladders. Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to various weather conditions, including hot, cold, and wet weather, as well as sun, wind, rain, and temperature changes.
Uses basic hand tools such as utility knives, hammer tackers, roofing hammers, pry bars, tape measures, chalk lines, scoop shovels, and brooms. May use low-skill power tools such as screw guns and drills as directed.
Special Requirements
3 months experience in basic commercial and residential roofing. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry at least 50 pounds.
