Job description
Workers who will weed and thin, will walk open fields and stand in between furrows 100% of the time, with a long handled hoe, using a repeated back and forth arm motion to weed and thin where necessary.
Onion harvesters will spend 90% of the time walking open fields to cut and pull onions from ground using cutting knives and shears, sort onions, some will weed by hand as they go along the furrow. Onions will then be placed in bins and bins will be set on trucks that ride along the sides of the fields 10% of time.
Peach and apple pickers will climb ladders with cloth sacks tied around their neck and select fruit that is ready to be picked and place them into the sack until the sack weighs around 25lbs, the employee will them climb down the ladder and carefully dump the sack into a bin. 100% of the job.
Irrigators will walk behind a tractor in between the furrows at a steady pace, either loading or unloading irrigation pipes (25 lbs) 100% of the job.
Some will operate tractors/machinery. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employer will train for two working days in the job duties. The housing is a combination of owned and leased property and the employer has documentation that the housing meets all local, State and Federal standards. In the absence of applicable local or State standards, DOL OSHA standards at 29 CFR 910.142 will apply.
